The aquarium booth | Benedetto bufalino + Benoit deseille

What could be done with a telephone booth when mobile phones take over? And the booths are no longer useful? The French artist Benedetto Bufalino and the lighting designer Benoit Deseille thought of renovating those booths into something more interesting to the urban space,  that would make people interact.

They turned the booths into fish aquariums in the middle of the street giving the people a chance to see something new taking them from the real life with all the stress and depression to a slower world where dreams and colorful life are present.

The two artists first tried the idea in the streets of France when Lyon’s light festival was carried out. After the proposal succeeded, they did it again in other places like Belgium in 2011.  Changing the function of the traditional booth into unique urban furniture breaks the routine life of the people making it a more fun journey
