Quasi-Church | Jake Alsop

Religion began, quite frankly, with the only eternal object mankind has ever know- the sun and the moon. The Quasi-Church, a design out of Diploma Studio 10 at Westminster University School of Architecture and the Built Environments, is a form seemingly carved by the sun, forming spaces and events in time. The building thus acts as a calendar, tracking the movement and position of the sun throughout the and and throughout the year. Through these moves, the church is brought back to the origins, with an intrinsic relationship to the sun, celebrating the duality between light and dark.
