The School on Islands Brygge, Secondary School l C.F. Møller

The School on Islands Brygge is a secondary school emphasizing nutrition and lifestyle situated between Islands Brygge, the Port of Copenhagen, and Amager Commons. Because of the school’s unique focus, students can connect their intellectual learning to experiential, sensory, and tactile experiences. New Islands Brygge School was developed using this kind of education.

The School on Islands Brygge’s Concept

The nearby city, harbor, and commons influenced the building’s triangle shape, materials, and color scheme. The dining hall serves as the school’s focal point because food plays a significant role in its character. The double-high ceilinged dining hall serves as both the cafeteria and the central location for all activities related to the school. As a result, students from all the school’s various activities can assemble in the dining hall.

Since mobility is another area of emphasis for The School on Islands Brygge, the design of the building must encourage recreation and movement. The structure’s distinctive swirling design, which features a staircase theme and extends an invitation to ascend to the school’s bustling rooftop area, is one way in specific this is accomplished.

Students can take a pleasant and active bypass across the roof because it provides entry to several of the campus’s amenities. The sports area is on top of the roof and offers lots of space for physical exercise on the running route, in the parkour area, or on the indoor soccer field.

The internal and outside areas of The School on Islands Brygge are intended to be in near proximity to one another. As a result, every classroom has a direct connection to the rooftop scenery. The school’s biological sciences department has access to a rooftop zone comprising a biology garden, a physics and chemistry laboratory, and plants utilized in cooking lessons.
