Sunset Sphere: Los Angeles Welcomes a Tiny Las Vegas Sphere on Sunset Boulevard!

Las Vegas Sunset Sphere – In response to the increasing demand for cutting-edge outdoor advertising, there’s a proposal for an orb-shaped digital billboard to grace the iconic Sunset Strip in Los Angeles County. This addition is set to redefine the visual landscape of this renowned retail and hospitality corridor. A new project named Sunset Sphere is on the horizon, proposed for 8410 Sunset Blvd. alongside the Best Western hotel in West Hollywood. The development plans are set for discussion at a public meeting on Thursday, as indicated by city documents. Notably, the 1.7-mile stretch of the Sunset Strip is renowned for its array of billboards showcasing international fashion brands and various companies.

The Sunset Sphere would rise along Sunset Boulevard.

As outlined in city documents, the proposed Sunset Sphere aims to replace existing digital billboards at the location. Envisioned as a 49-foot diameter structure, it incorporates a glass design with pedestrian-oriented amenities and surrounding spaces in and around the orb. The proposed structure, known as Sunset Sphere, is designed to be suspended from an adjoining apartment building and is envisioned to comprise three floors. The orb would extend approximately 8 feet above a plaza, featuring seating areas below. The open space beneath the sphere is intended for public use. According to city documents, SAEE Studio, a Los Angeles-based architecture firm, is identified as the project’s architect.

The anticipated cost for the construction of Sunset Sphere ranges between $2 million to $3 million, as indicated by Joe Shooshani, a partial property owner involved in the project. Shooshani has dedicated years to the development plans and envisions the orb as a potential venue for live broadcasts by a TV network. With this collaboration, he aims to elevate Sunset Strip’s prominence, aspiring to establish it as the West Coast’s equivalent of Times Square, drawing increased attention to the iconic location.

The proposed Sunset Sphere represents a pioneering project that merges both a building and a billboard within West Hollywood. As indicated in city documents, while this project is the first of its kind in the city, West Hollywood anticipates the possibility of similar ventures in the future. West Hollywood, situated in the Westside region of Los Angeles County, is acknowledged as an independent city. In contrast, a significantly larger sphere, standing at an impressive 366 feet, was inaugurated earlier this year in Las Vegas. This colossal orb serves as a live event venue and is adorned with captivating video screens, drawing widespread international attention. In addition to its iconic billboards, Sunset Strip is renowned for its high-end retailers.
