D’âge en âge
The project is located in a heterogeneous and changing fabric where today houses townhouses and collective buildings, warehouses, workshops and municipal greenhouses. The school restaurant is located on the ground floor of the residence at the corner of Michel Dupeuble and Château Gaillard streets. The new residence for the elderly opens largely on the municipal garden Alexis Jordan and offers a soft and open urban form that lets the sun enter and extends the neighborhood landscape by providing visual breakthroughs on a heart of landscape islet.
It is organized in three main blocks around a central garden. On the ground floor, a system of glazed galleries makes it possible to reach the various shared spaces while being sheltered from the bad weather and reducing the distances to be traveled.
The Maison Blondet, preserved for its heritage value, is part of this composition and creates a historical connection with the neighborhood. The residence offers a sober, elegant and balanced architecture which offers each inhabitant pleasant views, sun and outdoor spaces, privative or shared, quality.
The specificity of the program of the residence is the importance given to common areas (vegetable garden, multipurpose room, hairdresser, restaurant, physical activity room. The challenge of the architectural project is to create a pleasant, dynamic and enviable place to live. All the common and shared activities are developed around the garden, real ‘village square’. It becomes a place of central life, stimulates exchanges, meetings, encourages participation in activities both inside and outside.
