3D-printed vessels | French designer Michaël Malapert

The French interior designer Michaël Malapert introduces the Dark Side collection ( 3D-printed vessels ). “Objects inspired by numerical software reinterpreting and focusing on origami know how” explains the designer. He adds that “Only the graphic skeleton of the objects is maintained, while the material is reduced to the minimum”.

His main conceptual objective is to present objects with a unique structure that allows the mind to “travel”. The intricate geometrical combinations he adopts are considered as discrete ways of representing sophisticated designs. Additionally he transforms the respective material into a finished sculpture through various folding and unfolding paper techniques.

The current collection  (3D-printed vessels ) not only shows that the rapid 3D printing technology is able to manufacture wired solid structures with extra fine curved lines, but also the shape follows the exploration of  functionality & vice versa.
