Bellerive Resort | AVA Architects

Situated in Hoi An, just 6.1 km from the Assembly Hall of Chaozhou Chinese Congregation, the Bellerive Resort, a property under The Calico brand, boasts an expansive, awe-inspiring landscape. This eco-resort spans over 8700m2 of land, embracing Hoi An’s historic town’s tropical, hot, and humid climate. From a bird’s-eye perspective, Bellerive can be divided into two distinct sections: a six-story hotel block housing 178 well-appointed rooms and a luxurious villa block featuring 2 to 3 bedrooms, each accompanied by its private pool.
This architectural gem seamlessly marries contemporary design with influences from Hoi An’s river heritage, exuding the authentic essence of Vietnam’s central coast. The resort’s aesthetic captures the charm of simple fishing villages and the serenity of rustic fishing boats gently adrift on the picturesque Hoai River.

At the heart of AVA’s design philosophy for resort spaces lies the central principle of crafting a tangible and immersive guest experience. This involves meticulous planning and layout of every facet of the resort journey, from the entrance, lounge, relaxation zones, and infinity pool to the dining venues, conference facilities, spa, and recreational spaces. These elements are thoughtfully arranged in a cohesive, functional configuration, fostering seamless movement for both internal and external circulation while upholding a harmonious aesthetic throughout the entire construction.

The hotel block strategically aligns with the main traffic route, albeit further back, to achieve a commanding and expansive presence, stretching horizontally across the landscape. This placement not only adds a sense of grandeur to Bellerive but also affords scenic riverside vistas for public areas and hotel rooms. To the south of Bellerive, an exclusive villa zone unfolds, with private pools wrapped in a tranquil ambiance. At the heart of the property lies the infinity pool, gazing out towards the picturesque De Vong riverbank. A noteworthy feature of Bellerive is the artful integration of plants and gardens, thoughtfully interwoven amidst functional zones, creating eco-friendly green spaces and enhancing the overall aesthetic of the entire resort.

A bird ‘ s-eye perspective reveals that the roofing of the hotel block and the villa block draws inspiration from the imagery of an inverted boat, reminiscent of the fishing boats gracefully drifting along the De Vong River. Guided by the principles of sustainability and long-term utility, AVA places a premium on the selection of materials that harmonize with the existing surroundings and align with future trends in modern development. Both exterior and interior walls are constructed using unfired bricks, and local materials like stones are thoughtfully incorporated, bringing the rich cultural heritage of Hoi An’s ancient town into the essence of Bellerive.

Bellerive Resorts’s Material Design

Complemented by tempered glass, concrete materials are chosen for their suitability in the tropical climate. The ceilings, walls, and roof design prioritize ventilation and air circulation. At the same time, a clean, understated white hue complements the warm, wooden interiors, bestowing an elegant and sophisticated ambiance upon the space. Notably, in the lounge bar area, the ceiling is adorned with a cross-knit net, an innovative feature inspired by the image of Quang fishermen casting their nets to catch fish. This addition infuses the space with rustic charm, a sense of intimacy, and local character while retaining the luxurious and contemporary aesthetic that Bellerive aspires to embody.
