Passing Cloud | Tiago Barros

Passing Cloud is a concept by Tiago Barros that explores the possibilities of travel, reviving it to its purest form. Inspired by the movements of a cloud and how it’s free to wonder the sky as it pleases, this concept was aimed at developing a public transport vehicle that had an open schedule and an unknown final destiny, taking away the planning and stress from what should be a relaxing journey.

The aircraft is made up of spherical balloons produced from a stainless steel structure covered with a heavy weight nylon fabric. This innovative method of transportation would be environmentally friendly as it uses the prevailing winds to direct its course and speed.”]

By riding the winds, the winds force felt atop of the structure by the passengers should be negotiated during the trip adding to the floating sensation of the experience. Although this concept seems a little farfetched and dream-like, Passing Cloud is similar in design and function as a hot air balloon, which brings it back into the realm of reality and not as silly as one would imagine.
