Light Installation on Water

88888 is a team consisting of artists Karel Burssens and Jeroen Verrecht, known for their innovative installation ideas. In a recent venture, they created a rectangular light installation in the middle of a water body in Horst Castle in Belgium.

The installation is actually a rectangular shaped hole in the water body that appears to be a part of it surrounding the castle. It is elusive as well as full of illusion since it appears to be of infinite depth unknown material from the shore while the real beauty of it is realized during the night time.

Under the skylight, the rectangular void is illuminated by light giving an illusion of a plane floating in air. It gives a new perspective to the water body as it plays with the contrast of dark water surrounding it thus making sure the lake appears more aesthetic and mysterious.

In all it is a really simple and creative way of using elementary shapes to successfully create a valuable impact on the overall scene. It shows how simple solutions could transform a space into something really worthy.
