UNFLAT Pavilion | Nick Gelpi

UNFLAT Pavilion, architectural practices are continuously shifting to adapt new technologies and innovations. However, Nick Gelpi’s pavilion is a soft, cheap, low tech structure with a great aesthetic value. The bent plywood composition utilizes the physical range of behaviors of natural materials in order to generate architecture forms.

Situated on the MIT Campus, Cambridge Massachusetts, the freestanding pavilion leads the way for a ‘flat-to-form’ fabrication methodology. The structural and functional membrane of the pavilion was generated by the physical flexing of the material.
