The Velvet Stage | SHJworks Architectural

The Velvet Stage is a series of shells constructed with a single catenary curve that is repeated, rotated and enlarged. The temporary facility was designed by SHJworks Architectural for the 2013 Roskilde festival in Denmark.

Collaborative input from the performers who would use the space was considered throughout the process. Seven components make up the construct with a single dome stage opening to a ring for musical performances.
