The Other Side of Clouds | Jakob Wagner
The old phrase of ‘Stranger than fiction‘ comes to mind when considering these photographic works by the professional photographer Jakob Wagner. In his two series, Sea of Clouds (2010) and Caribbean Sea (2012), both shot from aircraft, it is easy to overlook the seemingly tiny surface waves and lose reference.
The mind jumps to sights it recognizes and in an instant, a field of clouds becomes a forest fire or a field of swaying tall grasses. The natural world is both the greatest artist as well as the greatest canvas on Earth, and the other side of the clouds is a paint few have viewed or more importantly, seen.
