To testify construction industry crisis and thousands of jobs lost by the recession, about 10,000 yellow construction helmets were lined up neatly in blocks and rows outside the Milan Stock Exchange. These helmet formations symbolize out-of-job workers—including laborers, clerks, surveyors, architects and real estate agents—from the construction industry who have been forced out of work due to the recession. This large-scale,visually arresting protest/installation is not only a sight to behold, but also a call to address serious issues that are plaguing the Italian economy right now.
