Ora Ito Designs Half-snake Staircase for LVMH Media Section in Paris

Ora Ito has designed a new workplace for the media section of LVMH in Paris. The building is 4-storey high and is adorned by a magnificent staircase that acts as the centerpiece of the venue.lvmh media division ora ito interiors offices france paris dezeen 2364 col 4 852x1277

“The (staircase) creature undulates in the space, shaping and pervading”, commented Ora Ito, the French designer. The staircase was created as a structure of a biomorphic nature that contrasts with the pale interior.lvmh media division ora ito interiors offices france paris dezeen 2364 col 0 852x568

Ito added, I wanted the staircase to be the centerpiece of the building.  This creature undulates in the space, shaping and pervading it. This huge half-whale and half-snake chimera, snatches you, swallows you up and spits you out at the right floor”.lvmh media division ora ito interiors offices france paris dezeen 2364 col 15 852x1277

The wooden structure resembles a tornado which invades the peaceful ambiance of the workplace.

KOZAC, the company which produced the stairway, installed a source of lighting beneath each stair to illuminate it at night.

The eye is attracted to the wooden monumental centerpiece because of the minimalist finish the offices have.
