’Located in Mestia, Georgia- a town with some lucky criminals- this police station designed by J. Mayer H. Architects is fantastic. Not a great descriptive word as far as actually meaning is concerned, but what can be done? It fits.

The building is reminiscent of the medieval stone towers which dot the surrounding mountainsides and are traditional to the region in which Mestia is situated. It is constructed of prefab textured concrete components which wrap around an underlying glass building. This effect is achieved by the extraordinarily large windows which provide the building with a maximum transparency, and follow their own coursing, seeming to slip behind the concrete and creating a clear hierarchy.

I wonder if the holding cells have a view…
