Lampster – A Lamp with Attitude | Radu And Andrew

Lampster

Feeling too low? Perhaps a soothing ambiance can illuminate your work-space, just enough to not distract you. Research mode? An intense reading light, specifically spot lighting your favorite journal, can come handy. Party time? Imagine remotely operable color changing lamp, flashing as per your favorite music. A cool little personified lamp named ‘Lampster’, does this all. Plus, it’s made up of recycled materials. A young architect – engineer duo, Radu and Andrew Chivote, designed this ‘lamp with an attitude’. Initially, the design was meant to be implemented for personal use. But the popularity of this little friend soon motivated them to launch a kick-starter campaign. Based on its popularity, the lamp has emerged as an instant hit, availing hundreds of pre-booking requests within its first 24 hours. Modeled like a table-top superhero, this 46 cm tall robot-like lamp has been designed considering ergonomics and customisability. The head of the Lampster can rotate thoroughly and yet the torso of this little friend is designed to stand well balanced. The recycled metal tractor headlamp and the neck pivot are made from steel and aluminium, thus being rust free. Additionally, the recycled polyurethane body allows a complete array of customization, so that each Lampster is unique due to its varying finishes, colors and logos.Apart from its premium metallic design and artsy rustic graphics, the engineering of this lamp also offers personalization. Designed from old tractor headlamps, the lamp acts as a point source as well as an ambient light source. And it also offers the best of both with a pair of RGB lamps fitted within to achieve optimum luminosity for outdoor use, thus not limiting its utility as just a desktop accessory. The lighting buffs also have a choice to switch the colors of the light or add effects as per the pace of music, via a RGB remote control application, which can be used through the user’s mobile phone. A smart mix of industrial design and technological furtherance really adds life to an inanimate piece of plastic and metal. And much like its persona, Lampster definitely does the trick! It adds life and playfulness to dark and dull work-spaces, lighting them up, both literally and figuratively.
