Foster + Partners Reveals a New Furniture Range for Versatile Working

In conjunction with Benchmark, the preeminent British furniture manufacturer, Foster + Partners debuted a new furniture range during Clerkenwell Design Week. The series features the AYA standing table, the AYA conference table, and the AYA high stool, all promoting versatile, dynamic working. Each item is handcrafted from a single log of ecologically harvested, British-grown ash certified as FSC-approved. The new furniture range is constructed so that parts may be removed without much effort for maintenance, and they are treated with natural oils that make it easy to give them a fresh coat of paint, extending their useful life considerably.

Foster + Partners’ Senior Partner and Head of Industrial Design, Mike Holland, made the following statement: “We’re excited to introduce this new furniture range, which was created in tandem with Benchmark. AYA adapts to the changing environment of work and paves the way for more flexible work arrangements. These items are long-lasting and eco-friendly additions to any workplace because of their classic design and sparse material usage.”

The New Furniture Range Components

The first in the new furniture range is the AYA Table. There is a standing-height version of the AYA table for more relaxed office settings and a standard-height version for professional meetings. The sturdy table features rounded corners and an overall design inspired by libraries. Those sitting on either side of the table will feel more secure by adding a linear light rail down the middle of the surface.

A variety of AYA’s power options can be tailored to the needs of individual projects. The desk’s leg serves as the power source, and panels flat with the surface hide electrical ports for laptops and mobile devices. In addition to the standing table, Foster + Partners and Benchmark have also created a matching high stool. The stool features foot supports and follows the same gentle geometry as the table. The group plans to upgrade the current conference table chairs with more comfortable and versatile benches and stools.
