DublDom 1.80 on the Gilf of Finland | BIO-architects

DublDom 1.80 on the Gilf of Finland was designed by BIO-architects, One day in the autumn of 2014 a young ambitious girl arrived by air to our office. Yes, she just called and asked whether it is possible to land a helicopter in our production. A cursory inspection of the exhibition home took half a minute. The verdict was simple «i like energy and lightness».

Then, at the stage of design and production, we saw each other only once. We were given complete freedom to create an individual house using standard modules. The design was carried out in November 2014, when we had only the standard six-meter model DD26 and DD40. Compared to them, the house 15 meters long seemed trolleybus gigantic. As a result, we managed to make a unique design that combines the interior of bleached wood, the old granary board, metal parts and delicate color inserts. Outside of the house is lined with shingles.

All modules of the house were made in the production «DublDom» in Moscow and traveled to the place of installation almost 1000km. All the trim, engineering and communications were made at the factory. On the site, we just connect the finished house to external engineering networks – water supply, septic tank, electricity.
Due to the modular technology, we turned out to make a house far from the city, in the shortest possible time, with high quality and low budget. The cost of the standard model – $37,000, but here it was increased at the expense of additional options.

The convenient location of the house allowed to direct the main veranda on the Finnish Gulf and the south side. By that, we could use most scenic views and use one of the principles of a passive house – glazed south facade with a visor. Low winter sun goes through the whole house in the winter, filling it with light and warmth, and the high summer sun does not get inside due to the canopied porch.
The project used the most environmentally friendly materials. The emphasis in the interior is on recycled granary board, and outside the house lined with shingles of larch, which emphasizes the natural origin and delicate integration of the house into natural surroundings.
Most of the furniture elements are also made with our project at the factory. All the modules come to the site already with kitchen, built-in shelves, beds, table and fireplace.
