Center for Aerial and Circus Arts | Daniel Caven

Center for Aerial and Circus Arts or CACA is a new structure that is to be a performance training facility. The new typology created for the performers allows for some formal experimentations; form was based off of studies of the acrobats’ movements to produce a sinuous surface that spans great horizontal lengths.

An interesting part of this new performance center is that it explores the idea of merging the ground surface to the walls. Since performers are not limited to a horizontal surface in terms of producing a piece, the walls are also changed so that it can be a part of the performance training. The exterior form takes on a shape that produces movement based off of the interior functions.
