New Cultural Center, the aim of the thesis was to revitalize the industrial area in Alcantara, district of Lisbon. Location is directly related to culture zone, which was formed in 2008 from the complex of old industrial buildings. Location program determines further development of a cultural and educational component that would promote possibilities of the existing structure. Urbanistic concept deals with the main idea and also question how to incorporate a solved area to the cultural life of the city. Design creating cultural organism of the city which connects all significant areas on the coast and provides new interactive zone for visitors.
The selected functional use of new centre provides space for exhibitions, education work, as well as spaces for musical theater or dance events. Architectural design in terms of volume responds to the surrounding and proposed facade connects the Portuguese tradition with modern design. Object with proposed surroundings significantly improve the condition of the territory. Solution integrates territory into higher functional units and provide new added value in the form of an urban garden.
