In loving memory of Stephen Lawrence (an 18-year-old young man who aspired to become an Architect but became the victim of racial murder in 1993), the RIBA established an annual architectural award. This award will be claimed by “the best examples of projects that have a construction budget of less than £1 million” as a way of encouraging upcoming architects to design economically friendly masterpieces.
