W-Fi stations | Mathieu Lehanneur

Technologies have been immensely improving and thriving but at the cost of natural resources. In a bit of an ironic gesture, WIFI stations that are technological trees are positioned in the Rond Point des Champs-Elysées. The stations are like trees with their routes in the ground providing free WIFI services for the public.

Mathieu Lehanneur devised a protective shelter with a plant covered roof, like ‘A garden placed on a few tree trunks’ and designed to be as attractive when viewed from the ground as from a balcony. The design is very simple and elegant, including a large screen and swivel chairs with a flat surface for laptops or iPads.
