If needed to be described in two words, 1024 Architecture’s “Vortex” would be described as an Organized-Chaos. Embracing the bridge that unites the two buildings in the Darwin Ecosystem Project complex in Bordeaux, France, the light installation, built from construction scaffolding, intersecting with LED lights.
Vortex strives to bring together many artistic elements, from the architectural shape, to the technology used in the illuminated tubes, culminating with the music played. The installation is in symbiosis with Darwin Ecosystem Project’s unique energy consumption footprint, converting it into processed data that spawns real time visuals.
Visually, the structure is quite unique. It might be perceived as a parasite structure or a reinterpretation of a bird’s nest. It mixes materials such as wood, metal and transparent plastic, creating a generative, life-like organism, appropriate with the Darwinian theme of the building.
