Unititled Woven Portico Nicolas Feldmeyer
Zack, enjoy this- I hope it’s still up. The London artist Nicolas Feldmeyer has transformed the porch of the central building of UCL (University College London) with his recent work titled ‘Unititled (Woven Portico), by weaving a translucent material between the columns. How audacious of him. The weaving envelopes the space, taking hold of it, creating previously absent play between light and shadow as well as an interesting condition of ‘seen/ not seen’ The weaves appear opaque from without, but from inside, backlit from the outside, the city is visible- with only a little bit obscured by the mesh.
