Sweetly Modeled London | Chris Naylor
Lightheartedly reverential to the museum’s past as a storehouse for rum, coffee, and sugar, the artist Chris Naylor was recently commissioned to create an artistic model of some of London’s most iconic landmarks for the 10th anniversary of the Museum of London Docklands.
With some 2,186 sugar cubes and weighing a surprising 13 kilos, the use of sugar here is of far greater value than anything I’ve ever done with the little cubes. My crowning achievement was a fun, but ultimately futile attempt at authenticity while drinking Absinthe.
And at the end of the whole ordeal, we still had a nearly full box of sugar… if only we’d had a hundred more boxes and a picture of Florence’s skyline
