SuperKOLMEMEN

The Three Smiths Statue (Kolmen sepän patsas) has been standing and working on the square since 1932. Their hard labor and the long permanent cooperation with the city of Helsinki will be appreciated by temporary pneumatic architecture, surrounding them as if they are floating on a bubble, from 5th to 11th September during Helsinki Design Week.

Dedicated to hard-working locals and peace-seeking travellers, the installation will initiate conversation, create interaction and offer cultural events enhancing communication within people. superKOLMEMEN would also like to welcome everyone to its surreal space to meet, relax and share experiences.

The Thee Smiths belongs to the art collection of Helsinki residents, which is maintained by HAM Helsinki Art Museum.

SuperKOLMEMEN is an urban intervention, popping up temporarily for one week in the center of Helsinki, which will change the view and the perception of the place (Kolmen sepän aukio). The daily life scene, happening in the square that people pass by, sit, walk or drive through, will be converted to a playful environment where people can gather, talk, dance or relax.
