Senseless and Style less – the New Trend in Architecture.
Senseless and Style less – the New Trend in Architecture, One of the great challenges faced by the architects in the 21st Century is the path of No-Style that architecture is following. Architecture of today hasn’t been under any stylistic norm, so architects have also had the liberty to design structures, whimsically. This age of architecture not being bound to rules of styles has mainly been caused due to the boom in technology.
Designers and architects have exploited this aspect to bring to the society, buildings that are forever burned into your memory. There have been arguments, criticisms and praises for these buildings, but with the increase in the number of such structures, one has to question if this period of styless-less Architecture is one that is beneficial for the society.
Architects claim that these designs are the products of the clients’ needs, that these structures are designed to stand out amongst the other buildings. These massive structures are meant to be such that they are never forgotten, while striving to become an icon for that particular area.
While this idea of a particular building becoming the icon of a city or a country has been there for centuries (Eiffel Tower for France, Sydney Opera House for Australia, etc), a multitude of weirdly designed structures in the same area isn’t going to make it an iconic structure. In fact, having a variety of such architectural structures in the close vicinity of each other, will ensure that none of them will be icons for that area.
However, this style has been in much demand. With more and more structures being built which tend to be more on the weird side, this style has spread everywhere. Buildings, which are exact replicas of the clients’ favorite items, or which attempt to remind the passer-bys of an item, are the trend.
One can hardly deny the fact that after seeing these structures, it remains in your memory. But the question remains whether it was because it was a good design or one which you found odd. This new phase in architecture, where the designs do not follow a particular set of rules, has brought forth certain structures which make you pause and wonder, Has architecture of today become Senseless?
