The question of what is architecture is probably not as good of a question as what can architecture do? Architecture us as much about solving a problem as being creative. Indeed it could be described as solving a problem creatively. The designer Garth Britzman has undertaken to do this against two unique problems and come up with something both damningly simple, mindbendingly unforeseen and stunningly creative.
In his eco-friendly architectural work titled (POP)culture, Britzman creates a canopy/carport from hundreds of recycled plastic bottles hung from a simple frame. A wonderful palette of colours are introduced into the project by a limited quantity of coloured liquid filling just the bottoms of the bottles. Through this, swaying fields of greens, blues and yellows float and sway overhead.
