Pak Loh in Hong Kong | LEAD

Pak Loh, in the bustling district of Causeway Bay in Hong Kong, LEAD architects designed a renovation for a highly successful Pak Loh family restaurant. The project consisted of turning the front public entrance into a high-end VIP dining room and lounge.

A public versus private condition was taken advantage of to form a connection between the busy street and the private restaurant set deep inside the building.

75 curvy, CNC milled bamboo fins are combined with parallel mirrors to widen the the narrow hallway and draw passerby’s inside.

Alice Hellyar is an Architect and Craftsperson in the Columbia River Gorge of the Pacific Northwest, where she has practiced since 2011. Her work includes custom residential design with a focus on site specific homes. She is continually exploring the relationship between the natural world and the built world, which inspires her work. Alice is licensed in Oregon and Washington and is an AIA member. She holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Virginia Tech.
