Mario Cucinella Architects won the ARPT headquarter competition
Italian firm Mario Cucinella Architects has won a competition to design a telecommunications agency headquarters in Algeria the proposals form was inspired from a fin-like form referencing sand dunes and traditional morisque architecture.used the pointed arch widely used in Islamic regions as a reference for generating the shape, which also simulates the dunes of the surrounding desert landscape.with an innovative natural cooling system taken from the desert cooling techniques by channeling hot winds over the convex surface of the north facade, while a concave wall on the opposite side helps draw in cool air at night which characterizes a maximum level of environmental sustainability.
