The great thing about working artists is that they continue working and providing us, the public, with new creations to marvel over. Here are two new additions to the artist Kumi Kamashita’s portfolio of works. The first is an addition to her Constellation series, while the latter adds to her Warp and Weft series.
While appearing similar from a distance, the two utilize separate and unique methods of creation. The Constellation work, titled Mana #2, is created from a single, uncut, black thread woven around tacks at varying densities, thus creating the stylized image. Mother #2, of Warp and Weft, is constructed off of a panel of black denim which has had threads meticulously cut and pulled to create the dark spots of the image. Both will be on display at Scott White contemporary Art in La Jolla, California form 20 April until 1 June, 2013.
