The limited edition chair, crafted by the designer Maximo Riera, was done as a part of the animal collection taking the form of a beetle. The beetle that influences this design was the European Rhinoceros Beetle. This helped to emphasizing the strength and masculinity the chair portrays.
The seating compartment is located within the outer shell, representing the skeleton of the insect. The designer exquisitely captured the essence of the beetle, which can be admired when viewed from either a rear or side perspective.
As apart of the animal chair collection, it will be exhibited at the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills on the 4th of November through to the 4th of December 2013. This and others in the collection is a must see, as they use something as simple as a chair to expresses the complexity of the animal form.

She is particularly drawn to parametric and digital design, cultural context, and emerging voices in architecture. When I’m not analyzing the latest architectural trends, you’ll probably find me searching for hidden gems in cityscapes or appreciating the beauty of well-crafted spaces. After all, great design—like great connections—can be found in the most unexpected places. Speaking of connections, because architecture isn’t the only thing that brings people together.
