After five years of work the new Department Arts of Islam was opened to the public. The recent department is the latest in many that have been gradually growing since 1893. A ‘floating carpet’ of glass and metal hovers in the centre of one of the Louvre’s neoclassical courtyards.
This architectural insulation is the result of collaboration with architects Rudy Ricciotti and Mario Bellini. The exhibition demonstrates the masterful, interact, imaginative and revolutionary skills and accomplishments of the Muslim world.
