Joke’s On Me… | Yoskay Yamamoto

Joke’s On Me… , The artist Yoskay Yamamoto, in his first all-sculpture exhibition titled ‘Joke’s On Me…’, blends urban pop art with traditional Japanese elements. A series of figures, the show features references to iconic personalities from childhood and pop cultures.

What is interesting is how clearly the sculptures are of both East and West. Western iconography with Eastern execution. Made from a variety of materials including resin, plastic, vinyl, and hand-sculpted wood, the collection features such references as the Stay Puft Man, Bart Simpson, the Moomins and Hello Kitty, to the Kewpie Doll and Pikachu among others.
