Book chair combines the functions of a chair and a bookcase in one elegant contemporary piece of furniture. The chair is shown to be fitted within a simple conventional bookcase from which it can be slipped out and used separately both for seating and storage.

Fujimoto designed Bookchair for Italian design firm Alias. It was manufactured using white wood fiber panels, whereas its seat and back are created using a single piece of wood. “Bookchair comes to life through the aggregation of a new element, the chair within the bookcase, based on a concept that aims to reflect the basic, fundamental relationship between a book and its reader,” said Fujimoto about his latest design.
