Intern | Madeline Gannon – MADLAB.CC

Intern, by MADLAB.CC, this exercise is a study in a 3 phase workflow namely of 3D scanning, 3D modelling and 3D printing. The process starts when a 3D object is carefully recorded not as a photograph but as a 3D skeleton closed mesh. This aims to create a pr-existing context around which now,

the designer starts the design process. A depth camera is continuously used to capture the designers 3D hand gestures to create complex geometries and further manipulate object in a chrono-morphological space. This process is iterative and can show the clear differentiation caused by every alteration hence removing the distance between object and the designer. Finally this 3D geometry is printed and is ready to use in the physical environment.

The studies consist of series of intricately designed collar, wrist and column geometries. Utilization of extremely complex forms with the color white gives each object an extremely light visual quality and creates a curiosity for the understanding the processes it embodies.
