i.M.A.D.E Institute projects | I.M.A.D.E Institute

The i.M.A.D.E Institute of Ball State Univeristy focuses mainly on diverse conceptual, digital technologies and innovative fabrication mechanisms by realizing simultaneously the fresh-beneficial ideas and the technical quantity.

Initially converting varied models, prototypes, 1:1 construction stage, and the evolution of solutions to possible dilemmas by applying convoluted design restrains. A distinctive and contrasting example is the “Morpholuminescence”, which is lead and advanced by students from “An Inconvenient Studio”.

It combines fashion photography with light experiential optimization, which is a 3-point lighting set up used by professional photographers. This technique tracks the subtle shadows in a 3 dimensional consequence that encompasses custom laser-cut “petals”, “stems”, and axis. They were manufactured on-site from hardwood veneer along with lightweight acrylic armatures and fluorescent lighting.

Another provocative precedent is the “Arcus Animus” kinetic mesh arrangement designed by Waterloo Architecture/Philip Beesley Architect Inc precisely in four days, in prior collaboration with Ball State’s Inconvenient Studio/i.M.A.D.E (Senagala/Vermilion) & Pratt Institute Epithelium Studio (Beesley/Sarrach/Wang).

It is an overhanging, layered meshwork installation composed of impact-resistant acrylic, bamboo & mylar elements that performs to human occupation. The exceptional projects of i.M.A.D.E Institute exploit the potential “revelation” of different scale projects by creating unique prototypes that aim to interrogate materials and market viability.

Anastasia Andreieva is an accomplished Architectural Projects Editor at Arch2O, bringing a unique blend of linguistic expertise and design enthusiasm to the team. Born and raised in Ukraine, she holds a Master’s degree in Languages from Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv. Her deep passion for architecture and visual storytelling led her to transition from translation and editorial roles into the world of design media. With a keen eye for conceptual clarity and narrative structure, Anastasia curates and presents global architectural projects with precision and flair. She is particularly drawn to parametric and digital design, cultural context, and emerging voices in architecture. When I’m not analyzing the latest architectural trends, you’ll probably find me searching for hidden gems in cityscapes or appreciating the beauty of well-crafted spaces. After all, great design—like great connections—can be found in the most unexpected places. Speaking of connections, because architecture isn’t the only thing that brings people together.
