House São Pedro | FGMF

The design of House São Pedro in a gated community in the interior of São Paulo was based on the principles of taking advantage of the views of the land to the lush vegetation in the surroundings and the integration between the construction and the external area of the lot.

The building consists of two main volumes: the ground floor, which is largely glazed, encompasses the entire social part of the program – living rooms, home theater, wine cellar, kitchen, service areas, and garage – while the upper volume houses the residents’ suites. If the ground floor volume is arranged longitudinally on the land, the upper volume rests on it in a transverse orientation, creating a large balcony and gourmet space beneath it, well connected to the living room, solarium, and pool. This arrangement of stacked blocks also creates an uncovered terrace above the living room that is private to the bedrooms.

To reinforce the concept of stacked blocks, the closures are quite distinct from each other. While the block for the common areas is mostly transparent, enclosed by glass almost entirely, the upper volume is marked by large slatted wood panels, which cover this parallelepiped through fixed panels and shrimp-style doors.

Due to the reasonable slope of the land, the house was positioned at its midpoint, ensuring some privacy for the residents and allowing for good views of the surroundings. The pool, located at the front of the lot, takes advantage of this view and extends beneath the house, making the living room appear to float over its water mirror.

The interior design, also carried out by FGMF, sought to fully integrate with the architecture of the building while also bringing ideas of warmth and coziness to all the spaces of this very transparent construction.
