Hemp Monochair | Werner Aisslinger

Monochair. What a word. Pretty good concept too. If you think about it, the only bad mono-, seems to be mononucleosis. All the others are pretty cool. They’re novel because they’re singular. Monorail- what? It runs on just one track?! Monologue- gotta hand it to them, those are a lot of lines to memorize. Monochair- a chair made from one material, using a singular form. Pretty cool.

This chair designed  by Werner Aisslinger, is the world’s first natural fibre monochair. It is constructed of natural hemp fibers which are moulded under heat using a special ecologic glue to bind it all together. This new, sustainable material was developed in cooporation with BASF Acrodur.
