The New Harborside Cultural District

The Harborside Cultural District’s strategic location at the entrance of Sanya’s vibrant harbor ensures seamless connectivity to the city’s residential and hotel districts via automobile and tram networks. Anchored by a striking central axis, this architectural masterpiece is ingeniously designed to blend harmoniously with the natural surroundings. Inspired by the gentle sway of sails in the sea breeze, the layered roof structure cascades gracefully from the central axis, defining both the exterior and interior spaces.

One side of the district will be dedicated to performing arts and exhibitions, while the other will host a plethora of commercial programming, including conferences and trade fairs. The central square, nestled between these two facilities, offers breathtaking views of the harbor and serves as a communal gathering point.

Moreover, the architects have meticulously incorporated sustainable features to harness Hainan’s tropical climate’s natural beauty and resources. These include photovoltaics, rainwater collection systems, seawater heat exchangers, and a smart building management system to optimize lighting, shading, and ventilation. Timber cladding from certified sustainable forests underscores the commitment to eco-friendly construction.
