Do you know what we don’t do? One thing we generally don’t do is make gas stations that are nice to look at. It is surprising, we spend so much time and money at these places and yet we don’t ask anything more from them than a constant supply of a clear volatile liquid. And these places know it. They have us hooked.
Gazoline Petrol Station located in Cuneo, Italy; is a gas station I would like to drive up to. Gods, I might even drive there when I don’t need gas- just to sit in the attached bar and have an espresso. We take our gas so seriously. It’s all business and this pumping station, designed by DamilanoStudioArchitects, seems to acknowledge that and turn it on its head. There is the sense of play and movement evident throughout the form. A lone gas pump sits under a dedicated shelter in front of an image of a dog sitting on a toilet. On the back(or front) side there are more, but this sole pump humanizes the user, in a way reminding us of how we herd to and from these modern day feeding troughs.
