Foster + Partners Design New Flagship Store in Milan with Waterfall Entrance

Apple has released new renderings of their new flagship store in Milan, designed by Foster + Partners as part of a recent collaboration between the leading technology company and the British architecture firm. The store which will be located at Piazza Liberty is designed to be “there but not seen”. In order to maintain the value of the piazza as a gathering place, the architects came up with the solution to locate the store below the ground, while introducing a new public amphitheater that faces an artificial waterfall. Between the two walls of water which extend 8 meters high above grounds, there will be the entrance to the store. The scheme is inspired by classic Italian public squares and their historic fountains.

The store will, also, be accessed via a glass elevator, and it will be designed to host events like technology seminars and children programs. There has been no date announced yet for the opening of the flagship store.
