Format Elf Architekten’s Honeycomb Offices

Format Elf Architekten’s Honeycomb Offices

At the entrance of Campus “Netzwerk” in the Bavarian town of “Töging am Inn” in South Germany, stands this one storey building that shows a different approach done with aluminum in a changing industrial region. The design was done for an aluminium company’s HQs. Format Elf Architekten created a gently running honeycomb structure over the facade, calculated in a parametric process that gives the building its contemporary appearance. These honeycomb holes allow for allow comfortable daylight access to the offices inside. Glazing runs the complete length of the other long facade, which is set back and framed by a band of aluminum.

The design theme of the building made up of the facade continues to the inside of the building and to the customized furniture series that was created for the interiors. The 400-kilogram glass panels that make up the facade can be extended outwards to generate a gap for all-natural ventilation while retaining the surface’s flush look. Format Elf Architekten reflected the corporate identity and character of their client through the black and white design concept, and unique approach.
