Fantastic Trailer | Cheryl Baxter

Ok, so it’s not a trailer you sleep in. The ‘Fantastic Trailer’ by Brooklyn-based designer Cheryl Baxter is a portable instillation. A bit of a portable venue, but a very little bit. The concept is pretty interesting. It is constructed of six metal hubs extending off of a trailer platform. Suspended from these frames is organza fabric sewn as draft columns and pumped filled with air. This air gives fabric corporality. And it slowly leaks out from a small aluminum strip, giving the forms a slight sway and billow, blending the lines between drapery and design. Oh and concretely affirming that this is not a trailer to sleep in- the form are lit from within at night, creating a beacon where ever it is planted.
