Ecocapsule | Nice Architects

Ecocapsule by Nice Architects makes living off the grid possible for a year.

This immensely compact mobile home houses all the requirements for sustaining life- a bed, plenty storage, a work space, a kitchenette and a toilet; all this within 10 meter square. The storage space has been designed to fit in sports as wells as research equipment.

Shaped like an egg, this mobile home has been designed to maximize solar gain through 2.6 meter square solar cells on its skin. It also has a 750 W wind turbine on a retractable pole to meet its energy needs- powering a 9744Wh battery. Efficient collection of dew and rainwater has been another factor in determining the shape. A prototype of the Ecocapsule has been showcased at the Pioneers festival at Vienna in May, 2015 and it will be available for purchase in the last quarter of the year.

The compact size and the introverted form of the Ecocapsule make for an avant-garde mobile house that does not dominate its environment and thus, is beautiful to look at.
