Disney Announces New 100% Immersive Star Wars Hotel and Resort in Orlando
Disney is planning for a new Star Wars-themed hotel and resort at Walt Disney World in Orland, Florida. This was revealed during the D23 Expo, last weekend, where an animated video of the upcoming Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge theme park was also unveiled. The hotel is designed to be an “immersive” experience for visitors who will be handed each a “storyline” and a “mission” to complete. They will interact with hotel staff who will be dressed in Star Wars-themed costumes and taking on different characters from the popular franchise.
The preliminary concept drawings of the hotel reveal space ship-like interiors with control rooms, holograms, sleeping pods, and “views into space”.
“It’s unlike anything that exists today. From the second you arrive, you will become a part of a Star Wars story,” said Bob Chapek, Chairman of Walt Disney Parks & Resorts. “You’ll immediately become a citizen of the galaxy and experience all that entails, including dressing up in the proper attire. Once you leave Earth, you will discover a starship alive with characters, stories, and adventures that unfold all around you. It is 100% immersive, and the story will touch every single minute of your day, and it will culminate in a unique journey for every person who visits.”
No opening date for the hotel has been announced yet. However, “Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge” theme park was declared to open in 2019.
