Blown SW3 Pendant Lamps | Samuel Wilkinson

Blown SW3 Pendant Lamps, launched during London Design Festival 2013, the Blown SW3 pendant lamp was conceived as an experiment of the reflectivity and refraction qualities of glass. The designer Samuel Wilkinson took inspiration from antique ceramics and old glass pieces as well as old lamps’ lenses.

Starting with a rough prototype, a technical process was used to achieve various forms. A 3D CAD software was used to manage the inflation of each bubble in order to reach the best control of how the light would be refracted at diverse angles.

A metal mould was used to create the pendant. Two different variations were blown: sandblasted and transparent.
