The conventional use of mimicry and of a palpable narrative structure has been effectuated with an emphasis on aberration and artifice. The dramatic language spoken through sculptural leather by Konstantin Kofta leans towards the baroque style of Architecture.
The collection ‘ARXI” is a synopsis of:
“The wholeness of the natural form indicates that the form and forces are always in some sense of equilibrium. Seashells for instance are one of the natural forms whose functions are simple enough to be approximated by a simple mathematical relationship. Natural forms and curves are applicable to human architectures. Baroque architecture inspiration where regular designs gave way to curves, dramatic shapes, and decoration was transferred to sculptural leather Kofta pieces to evoke sensual delight.” The Kyiv-based fashion designer Konstantin Kofta, for the label’s spring/summer 2016 collection, provoked the conventional fashion trends with a series of satchels modeled after architectural elements. ‘ARXI’ backpacks take the shape of baroque elements found on building façades, with intricately ornamented flourishes and column caps made from stone grey fabric that mimic the characteristics of concrete.
