Andaz Beach Club,The design of the Andaz Beach Club at Peninsula Papagayo emerged from a compelling challenge: to translate the client’s high-end expectations into an architectural language that seamlessly blends luxury, wellness, and a deep connection to the surrounding tropical environment.
QBO3 Arquitectos was commissioned to create a beach club that would not only meet the standards of the Andaz brand but elevate the coastal experience for its discerning guests through design excellence and thoughtful spatial programming.
From the outset, the brief demanded a curated set of amenities focused on relaxation, sensory engagement, and exclusivity. These included beachfront lounging areas, private cabanas, wellness-focused spaces, a gourmet restaurant, bar, spa pavilion, and a versatile events platform—all arranged with fluid transitions between indoor and outdoor zones.
The client emphasized that the architecture must enhance the natural qualities of the site while delivering intuitive circulation, privacy where needed, and immersive views of the ocean and forest canopy.
The strategy adopted by QBO3 centered on a low-impact design that respects the topography and vegetation, while positioning each programmatic element to capture prevailing breezes and ocean vistas. Material selection was a critical component of the concept: natural woods, stone, and neutral-toned finishes create a palette that harmonizes with the landscape. A series of light rooflines, shaded terraces, and gently articulated volumes respond to the tropical climate while reinforcing a sense of openness and ease.

When I’m not analyzing the latest architectural trends, you’ll probably find me searching for hidden gems in cityscapes or appreciating the beauty of well-crafted spaces. After all, great design—like great connections—can be found in the most unexpected places. Speaking of connections, because architecture isn’t the only thing that brings people together.
