Amazing hand-dug luminous cave | Ra Paulette

For over ten years, American Artist Ra Paulette has traveled alone to his luminous caves in the sandstone mesas of northern New Mexico where he chipped, scraped and dig way the mountainside, carving out wondrous light-filled caverns.

Paulette has always been struck by the relationship between humans, nature and the inner soul. When completed, this cave is meant to provide a surreal transformation environment to foster “spiritual renewal and personal well-being.” Because each chamber is illuminated only by light tunnels in the ceiling, they possess its own unique quality that does not fall into the category of one specific style. But each space exhibits a mastery of textures brought to life by light, each creating its own feeling.
